ou know how I can tell you that winter is almost here? My skin can be terrible DRY!
I mean, * really * dry. Like, peeling and cracking dry.
Sorry. It is very offensive.
Most of the year, my skin remains soft and smooth. Only when the weather is changing and must be connected to the heater in my silky skin becomes dry in the desert.
Disturbing images. Sorry.
But do not worry, I’m just totally awesome * * * * and natural skin care routine, which leaves my skin soft and healthy.
If you’re struggling with dry skin during the cold months (or when) I definitely recommend giving this 2-step routine effort.
Step 1: Peel
When you hear the word “scrub,” you probably think the body scrub is made from hand-harvested French sea salt and a crazy expensive “rare” essential oils.
Do not worry, I’m not the kind of girl.
“Peel” simply means to remove dead skin cells. Definitely do not need expensive, chemical-laden bushes, do it!
* Dry Skin Brushing *
It’s just as simple as it sounds. Brush only the skin, while it is dry!
First, you must buy the right brush. Want to have been made from natural fibers, synthetics. You can find a cheap on Amazon. I have actually two: a template for my body and the smaller, less rough which I use on my face (which I did with a brush in a circular motion).
Then use the brush gently up and down your body right before the shower. Now, the methods that can be encountered on the Internet is a bit labor intensive. You can simply renew strikes (always towards the heart) and should comply with certain models (hands on shoulders, chest, hands …).
Sounds like a series of new-age mumbo-jumbo to me. Plus, I’m just so lazy, that’s all!
Everything we do is a quick brush size just before my shower, paying special attention to hands, feet, my elbows and knees.
I do this maybe once a week in summer (especially if you swim a lot) and every second day during the winter.
It gets really less than 5 minutes.
Step 2: Moisturize
Now you have several enlarged, and wash away all the yucky dead skin cells with a quick shower, it’s time to moisturize.
But it is certainly not just any moisturizer will do! No expensive creams full of nasty chemicals such as diethanolamine (DEA) and phthalates (chemicals linked to cancer, by the way).
Any guesses?
* Coconut Oil! *
Yes, pure organic refined coconut oil. Buy mine at Whole Foods, but I think the rest to sell non-organic, refined chips. 12-16 oz bottle costs between 9 and $ 12 and it lasts a long time.
In fact, I had the same 14 oz bottle for almost 2 years! It is definitely WAY cheaper than $ 30 payment (or more) for high-end living “crĆØme” only lasts a month or two.
Another important benefit of using coconut oil moisturizes, is that virtually no odor.
Since I first, my tolerance scents has become very limited. This is a kind of a shame because I can no longer wear perfume, which I liked!
During the Christmas season every year, my mother and I head over to Sephora and buy yourself a new bottle (or two) aroma. I always went to the lighter, and I liked the clean scent of Oriental, Woody scents.
This was always something I’m really looking forward to each holiday season.
Well, nothing! I honestly can not stand the smell of perfume and cologne, not for myself or other people. Smell is just too strong.
Even my favorite perfume, which I just can not bare to part with, give me a headache!
* Sigh *
And so I use coconut oil as a moisturizer. It smells!
* * Other oils
As I said, I love coconut oil because the price and non-olfactory factor. But there’s nothing inherently special about this oil makes it a better choice if, say, avocado, grape seed oil.
You can use these or any other vegetable oil, if desired. Also, the mixture of oil can be bought as stores of Burt Bees apricot oil, health food or even pharmacies.
Just be sure to avoid oil-based oil.
The only drawback of coconut oil that solidifies at room temperature. You can put the jar in a bowl with hot water before the shower, but (you guessed it) I’m too lazy to do so.
When I’m ready for moisturizing, I’m just having so much more than I need, and rub my hands. Frictional heat and warms the oil and returns to liquid form quite easily.
I would avoid at this stage during the winter because we always have a functioning heater, which keeps the house really warm and the oil nice and soft.
Let’s recap
Okay, so the router is actually 3 steps. But you take a shower anyway. . . right?;)
Oh, I forgot to mention the best part of * this routine!
You will see results almost immediately!
The first time you use this routine back in the winter of 2007, my skin was very dry and cracked. Within 2 days * * was about 50% improvement, and about 6 days, my skin is perfectly * smooth and soft again.
This is all due to the skin with a brush, some coconut, and a few extra minutes of my time.
