Once again, Bruce Feiler has done a remarkable job to take you on a journey through the subject that most writers are never thought to continue. Who could ever think of America as the prophet Moses? Still, Feiler takes us from the beginning and the Pilgrims to the present day. When you stop it will undoubtedly arise in your mind how influential Moses was the foundation of our country, and moral thinking in a positive direction.
Many people have problems with our country Judeo-Christian roots, but I think reading this book, you will see that regardless of your introduction religion.
author on some points of reference in history and some very good research to show how each event ties in life, teachings, and dreams of Moses. I think it will help some knowledge of the Bible understandable for the Feiler. But even without that the reader can see even the main character, and to link each event. No doubt, the story of Moses and the search for liberation and freedom seem Pilgrims, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, and almost all of our presidents. Feiler extend some of these events and characters, and how to attract and direction of the teachings of Moses, who led the people of freedom, justice and morality. This is an excellent account of the history of most of us never discussed. Agree. . . Moses could be called an American prophet.
Rating: 5 / 5

What Puritans, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Statue of Liberty, Cecil B. DeMille, and Martin Luther King have in common;

Moses.

American Prophet, by Bruce Feiler reveals Mosaic thread that weaves the tapestry of the history of America. Along the way we see the history of Jewish-American history to be made a common narrative of hope. The book is extremely interesting, and I highly recommend it.

American appropriation of Moses begins Puritans. Regarded as the Pharaoh, King James, the children of Israel itself, and the new world "promised land. But if the cloth and the Mayflower was the migration, Signing Mayflower Compact was the Sinai. Moses was not only a liberator, he was the author of the law. Mosaic Twin themes of freedom and responsibility is repeated again and again, American history. George Washington, for example, and led the people of British tyranny and constitutional responsibility. Martin Luther King Jr. led African Americans, and Jim Crow segregation, and the "dear in the Community".

Moses narrative spoken highly of the American people, because historically, is nominally Christian and Bible readings. The Civil War had a certain way, a theological dispute. It was Moses and lead to side with the abolition of slaves to freedom of Moses? Or should be part of the slaveholders, the law placed in the Sinai from slavery? Discussions could not resolve the problem, only a war could. And in the end, Abraham Lincoln was praised for a second Moses.

It was Martin Luther King Jr., who opened the way for full integration of African Americans in American society dedicated solely to civil war. And like Moses, who went only as far as Nebo is not done the promised land, the king himself was never to experience significant progress on his dream after his death in Memphis. But just before his death, speaks of the Church Mason, however, said: "I've seen the promised land. It can not get there I want to know tonight, that we humans get to the promised land. "

America was not only a land of African Americans are. It was also the promised land of immigrants, many of them Jews fleeing Eastern Europe, mass persecution, which sailed from the port of New York the watchful eye of Lady Liberty. Feiler reminds Mosaic significant impact on the architecture of this icon, but the words of Emma Lazarus' poem "The New Colossus."

Also report on the impact of the policy of Moses, Feiler believes that the impact on pop culture. Cecil B. DeMille 's The Ten Commandments, starring Charlton Heston, was the Cold War, Battle Cry, in which America itself from the will of God and not a communist tyranny. Paramount Studios to finance investment in granite 10 Commandments monuments are the grass courts across America. One of them, Austin, Texas, became a major focus of the proceedings of the Supreme Court. Two Jewish boys, Jerry Seigel and Joe Shuster, topics covered in the mosaic of the most famous superhero: Superman. and, before that, early 20th century, Bruce Barton turned to Jesus and Moses in a model entrepreneur and executive, respectively. Casual Metropolitan Life Insurance Company has published Moses persuader Men, described in Genesis "one of the biggest sellers and real estate that promotes ever lived." <, br />
Why did Moses keep growing even in American history (in the beautiful and ridiculous); Finally, Feiler points to three factors. As already mentioned, the narrative is Moses and the liberation and solidarity, and freedom and liberty. It is also the inclusion of the narrative. As Feiler writes, "The Israeli experience of oppression will determine the number of command laws of Moses that God's concern for the poor, often sick, comfort the grieving, and welcome to the damaged hands.

The ever-roiled America is a place of public religious culture. Feiler book shows how to use the Bible story of Moses is put in place good and bad in American history (or both, in the case of civil war) - but mostly good. As our culture is different religion, one might ask whether Moses narrative can achieve good yet.
Rating: 5 / 5

Mr. Feiler is developing a thesis in this book, that Moses was a leading figure in American history, far more than Jesus. To get there, beginning to pilgrims, and works today.

Add to theory, Mr. Feiler throws some very interesting and rare story. For example, given the history of the first pilgrim church service on the island before Clark was founded in Plymouth and the "real" story of the Liberty Bell. Other events were arrested and the underground, ML King's assassination and the Statue of Liberty - which, of course, the story of Moses. These historical overviews of the paper and give the reader of history lessons, in addition to serving as examples to support his theory.

The truss theory is an excellent example of speeches and sermons of Moses used the symbol of America as a whole and specific groups of Americans. It records how Moses and the exodus and the "choice" people of the Old Testament were common themes in the history of the United States and how Americans - black and white - see themselves. Furthermore, he shows how these principles apply to all the Pilgrims, Lincoln and the slaves of the century immigrants.

The only criticism is that often become obsolete, in which four or five examples where one or two will do. He repeated several times points and had this chain of logic. I felt thesis "book" would be stretched to book length.

This is despite the criticism, this is new and interesting to look at American history with some rare tidbits of history thrown into the mix makle is interesting.Rating: 3 / 5

Absolutely love books by Bruce Feiler. I have read most of this time, and I find them compelling and very interesting. His books Walking the Bible where God was born, and Abraham is a terrific non-fiction works, in which Bruce Feiler goes to the Middle East and visits to locales from the Bible and trying to make contact with the spiritual. While I am not Christian or Jew, I am always very interested in the Bible, and his books have really caught my imagination.

American Prophet, is a very interesting book of Moses chapter in the history of America. The first time I got this book, I was a little confused because I do not believe that Moses was a lot of space in U.S. history. I can not believe it was my mistake - again and again, Moses increased the number of inspiration, someone will lead us through difficult times, the promised land. The Americans believe that the story of Moses now. It's really incredible to read.

my favorite part of the American Prophet, when Feiler found part of the Underground. She went out in the middle of the night and literally darted between the runways and buildings, trying to get a feel of what it was. Of course, followed only a very small section of rail, but I was impressed both by the need to be part of history. I admire and become a fan of Bruce Feiler has a very long time, but this really showed me how to integrate himself in writing his stories.

If you are interested in the Bible, even in a secular sense, as I do, you should get the books by Bruce Feiler. Although he is Jewish, his words about faith and spirituality crossing all religious boundaries. He travels to find and connect with real locations in the Bible is a great read, and the chat history is just fascinating. Even if you do not like regular non-fiction, try the books by Bruce Feiler. It is truly outstanding-I am not a writer, and the American Prophet, is no exception. I liked very much, and now can not wait for the next book is released!Rating: 4 / 5
